After the dryer-sheet method has failed, to soothe the itch make a paste of meat tenderizer and a little water, apply to bites. This also gets excellent results used on painful stings, including those from bumble bees and scorpions! (Personal experience.)You don’t have to use Adolph’s brand meat tenderizer but it has to have the same active ingredients.

Got fruit flies? Put about an inch of apple cider vinegar in a glass and add 1 to 2 drops of liquid dish soap to the glass, give a gentle stir. It attracts the fruit flies and once they land in the vinegar they can’t get back out. Change daily until the problem is resolved.

Instead of using Alka-Seltzer tablets in the toilet bowl, I buy the cheapest store-brand denture-cleaning tablets for the same purpose. These also work well for cleaning inside flower vases, hummingbird feeders and bongs. Many similar uses.
