Community Post: A Definitive Ranking Of The Top 10 Best Movies Judd Apatow Has Produced.
10. This is 40
This movie had a lot of funny parts (mostly shown in the previews for it though….buzzkill). Probably funnier and more relatable if you’re an adult going through a mid-life crisis, but still awesome to see Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann together again.
9. Funny People
Funny People was ironically kind of sad. The title is a little misleading because the movie centers around Adam Sandler having a terminal illness, but I guess if you throw Sandler, Rogen, Hill, and Mann into a movie together you’re bound to get something funny. P.s. the kitten movie Jonah Hill makes in this film, KILLS it.
8. Pineapple Express
This is one of those movies that will make you laugh until you pee, but you gotta be in the right “mindset” to fully appreciate all the jokes.
7. Knocked Up
This movie is your worst nightmare told in the funniest way possible. After watching this you might even want some fat, hairy, stoner dudes to accidentally impregnate you.
Pretty typical night of 3 high school kids just trying to party. SYKE. This movie is hilarious and filled with tons of crude jokes and drunken debauchery, plus a gross period incident on Jonah Hill. This movie rocks, Chicka Chicka Yeah.
5. Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Jason Segal’s sad and pathetic character makes him all the more lovable, and his awkward yet steamy relationship with Mila Kunis is unmatched. Plus his vampire songs/play are kind of catchy!
This one strays away from Apatow’s typical male-lead funny guy and it’s AMAZING. Every single scene will have you laughing until your stomach hurts and every single character has you constantly laughing the entire movie.
3. Step Brothers
Will Ferrel and John C. Reilly are the craziest 40 year old step brothers you’ll ever see. Everything from their bunk beds to their music video will have you hoping you’re as immature at 40 as they are.
2. The 40 Year Old Virgin.
Each scene is more ridiculous than the next. Between getting his chest waxed and being thrown up on, you’ll be so happy you’re not Steve Carell in this movie. (not to mention he is a 40 year old virgin).
While Anchorman 2 may have not lived up to expectations, it’s probably only because the original Anchorman set the bar too high. This was one of Apatow’s first majorly funny movies and it’s amazing. An all star cast, well-written plot, and laugh out loud jokes makes this movie one of Apatow’s all time best.
…..and Freaks and Geeks
We really can’t talk about Apatow without mentioning this cult sitcom that made stars like Seth Rogen, James Franco and Jason Segal famous in the first place. This show is AWESOME and should probably come back for a season 2, only 15 years later, but still totally worth doing.
