Community Post: Happy Birthday World Wide Web!
1. Video Streaming
What would we do without YouTube? Where would all the cat videos go?
2. Social Media
Facebook, Twitter, etc. Not only can we communicated constantly with anyone around the globe, we can also stalk everyone we ever went to school with, people we see on OkCupid, and any randoms we met that one time at a party we forgot about until the moment Facebook brought it up in the “people you might know” section.
WHAT DID PEOPLE DO BEFORE THIS? Go to a library to search in encyclopedias? I don’t even know how to use the Dewey Decimal System. Also, Google Doodles are adorable.
Like Google, how did people do their homework before this? Serious questions. I feel bad for our parents who had to get through college without it.
5. Online Banking
Does anyone even know how to balance a checkbook anymore?
Clothes shopping, grocery shopping, things-I-don’t-need-but-buy-anyways shopping. The list goes on and on. It’s convenient, simple, and sometimes, there’s no sales tax on some sites.
Perez, D-Listed, even Buzzfeed sometimes. Sometimes we all need to know what’s going on in so-and-so’s life… people we don’t even know but know what’s going on in their lives in real time. People Magazine no longer cuts it.
8. Online Newspapers
Saving trees, but hurting our eyes.
9. Online Dating
For creeps and hopeless romantics alike.
10. Ordering Food
Drunken late night munchies are easier now that you don’t have to slur into the phone to order food. Even sober, no one likes talking to someone on the phone to order food.
Condescending Wonka, Grumpy Cat, Bad Luck Brian, Scumbag Steve, the list goes on and on.
