Nicole Kidman’s Dad Antony Dies in Singapore
UPDATE, Sept. 13, 11:50 a.m. AEST: New reports are emerging Antony Kidman died after suffering an apparent heart attack at The Tanglin Club, where he was staying in Singapore. It is believed he had just finished his morning exercise when he collapsed in the restaurant. He was pronounced dead at 9:54 a.m. Singapore time on Friday.
SYDNEY — The father of Australian actress Nicole Kidman has died in Singapore on Friday morning.
Dr Antony Kidman, 75, was visiting his daughter Antonia, her husband Craig Marran and her six children when he fell after breakfast in his hotel room, the Australian Women’s Weekly reported.
Antony’s wife Janelle is reportedly in Sydney, while Nicole is thought to be in Nashville, U.S., where she lives with her two children and husband, country singer Keith Urban.
“Nicole and her family are in shock by the sudden death of her father,” Nicole’s publicist Leslee Dart told AAP in a statement. “She appreciates the outpouring of support and kindly requests privacy during this very difficult time.”
In December, Antony and Janelle celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Sydney with a family gathering. Nicole and Keith returned to Australia for the event from their home in Nashville.
Anthony held the position of Director of the Health Psychology Unit and Director of the Foundation For Life Sciences at Sydney’s Royal North Shore Hospital. He was awarded an Order of Australia media in 2005 for his work in clinical psychology.
